Press Release November 21, 2015 A UNITED NATIONS CORNER IS OPENED AT VANADZOR HUMAN RIGHTS LIBRARY
Recently the Armenian Constitutional Right-Protective Centre (ACRPC) hosted Ms. Armine Haladjian, Head of the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) Armenian Office; Ms. Hasmik Sargsyan, UN Librarian; Ms. Arax Babayan, Administrative assistant and Ms. Alex Fox, volunteer from Armenian Diaspora.
A meeting was held at Vanadzor Human Rights Library with participation of intellectuals, civil society representatives and library readers.
The UN Global Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN Summit in New York in September, 2015 as well as the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations were the main themes discussed at the meeting.
ACRPC Chairman Mr. Manoukian welcomed the guests and the participants. Then Ms. Haladjian introduced the UN 17 new Sustainable Development Goals for the 2016 - 2030 period and the 70-year-old UN activities around the world. An interesting discussion was also held on UN activities and projects in Armenia.
A UN Corner was opened based on the UN rich section at the Human Rights Library and the newly donated literature. The UN Corner will greatly enhance the public awareness on UN activities.
